Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any finance experience for these courses?

No. Although we do suggest that you are finance-adjacent so our courses bear some relevance to your work. We also suggest at least three years of work experience however this is not essential.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Provided you attend, participate and complete the relevant coursework you will be entered into our database of course finishers. This database can be independently verified.

Are these courses specifically for South African businesses?

No. The general principles taught apply worldwide. That said, our examples and case studies use ZAR and have a certain Mzansi flair.

Is this course suitable for small businesses and entrepreneurs?

Yes. We work with both large companies and small businesses. Our training is tailored to help entrepreneurs, business owners, and managers confidently understand their company’s financial performance. Our smaller class sizes allow us to adjust our materials accordingly.

What if our managers feel nervous about financial topics?

That’s exactly why we exist. Our approach is designed to remove the fear from finance, break down complex topics into simple language, and build confidence step-by-step.

Are you B-BBEE accredited?

In accordance with South African legislation, we qualify as a Level 4 (100%) contributor. Our B-BBEE status is registered annually with the Department of Trade and Industry. Click here for a copy of our certificate.

What if I’m not in South Africa?

That’s fine. We work with clients throughout Africa and the Middle East. The further you are from Johannesburg, the more likely that an online course will suit you best. We are open to travelling and have visited over 14 countries.

What materials are provided and what do I need?

Online courses generally require a working computer, internet connection and your focus. In addition, you will be required to print a manual (c. 60 pages) to complete our exercises and make notes. Most delegates use their phone as a calculator. For certain courses (e.g., modelling in excel) you will need MS Excel installed and working.

I have a course I want to teach and would like to use JSF as a platform to do so. Are you open to collaboration?

Yes. Please call us. We’re open to expanding our course content provided our goals align. See about us for more information about our company direction.

Can you provide finance training for our entire management team?

Yes however we might be limited by our maximum online class size of six delegates. In such cases, we would have to split the courses. We’ve previously had teams from businesses complete our training as part of their general leadership and development programmes. We find teams from a single business are able to discuss as a group issues that are relevant to their own situations and draw on the experiences of each other.

To what extent can you customise your courses?

We find that the best way to tailor our courses is to keep the fundamentals the same and then allow the discussion to guide the direction of learning. This helps us apply what we have learned to different scenarios. E.g., There is one way to balance a balance sheet but a thousand interpretations of what that means.
